On 2 March, ABA Corporate Member Fieldfisher delivered a webinar on the impact on UK banks of sanctions regimes, and how banks can ensure that they are achieving regulatory compliance.
The webinar was presented by Vivien Davies, one of Fieldfisher's partners, and Vanessa Wilkinson, a senior associate.
Vivien Davies briefed the participants on how UK rules on sanctions compliance may start to depart from EU rules as a result of Brexit, and how firms should navigate 'secondary sanctions', from the US, which may apply to them even though they are not US firms.
Vanessa Wilkinson presented two case studies that considered circumstances in which sanctions authorities might impose significant penalties for sanctions breaches, and considerations that might lead them to take a more lenient line.
A full recording of the webinar is attached here.
The slides underpinning the case studies are attached below, and contain contact details for Vivien and Vanessa.
