Fundamentals of Islamic Finance: 2 Day Training Course

Tue 20 April 2010 - Wed 21 April 2010

Time: 9am - 5pm

Location: 4 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0PG

Organisers: New Cavendish Partners

Islamic Finance has matured and undergone significant expansion in the last decade.

The global credit crunch has witnessed a heightened level of scrutiny and due diligence as to all investments. Islamic finance has gained further prominence as  Middle East and South Asia liquidity is tapped. Meanwhile, London and other financial centres are expanding their regulatory infrastructure to support Islamic banking and capital markets.

To address the concerns of professionals seeking a comprehensive overview of core principles and current issues, this course is provided.

This course features issues related to how Islamic banking principles apply to commercial, corporate, project, trade, and structured finance (sukuks), and provides some comparison to Western methods. This intensive, interactive training seminar provides delegates with a sound and highly practical understanding of the core principles as they are applied to transactions and regulation. The course provides a strong introduction and review of:

  • Islamic Banking
  • The major ideas behind typical transactions
  • Examples of the deal mechanisms
  • Problems in constructing the deals
  • Use and Establishment of Investment funds
  • Law, Accounting, Compliance, and Regulation.

All delegates will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment for attending the course, and may also elect to take a short 1 hour examination at the end of the course in order to receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Islamic Finance Core Principles.

Who Should Attend:

The programme will benefit professionals already involved with Islamic Finance, as well as those new to the market. This includes corporate treasurers, financiers, bankers, auditors, compliance, analysts, private bankers & regulators.
